It's been spectulated.
Abz posted his status as "has lost his Mum."
Even though at first I thought it was about a passing, but the posts on his myspace suggested that Abz had had a massive falling out with her. The rumour is that she tried talking some sense into him, and he wasn't happy about it.

he should listen to her but you know what the saying is about the truth hurting. Perhaps he could see what she was getting at but wouldn't want to admit it. After all our parents are always there for us no matter what. Friends like his myspace ones are probably what I call fair weather friends if you know what I mean.

The whole "has lost his mom" I think it was more a "joke", you know as in when a kid gets lost in a shopping center and goes "I lost my mom".
The status came when he was posting that pic of him when he was a kid, and minutes before that status he had "Abz is hehe" and as a mood he had giggly, so really I think he was just trying to put one of those smart funny phrases there.
